A crucial decision has been taken regarding another road name in Vijayawada. The Andhra Pradesh government issued orders to retain the name of the Mahānādu Road as it was in the past. During the tenure of the previous YSRCP government, with the influence of local TDP leader Devineni Avinash, the name of Mahānādu Road was changed to Devineni Rajasekhar Road. In response, a significant number of locals requested the government to restore the original name of Mahānādu Road.
Vijayawada East MLA, Gadde Rammohan Rao, along with local petitions and an explanation of the road’s history, wrote a letter to the Municipal Commissioner. The Commissioner immediately responded by reviewing the records. Based on this, the Municipal Commissioner submitted a comprehensive report to the state government. Since the council's resolution was controversial, the Andhra Pradesh government issued orders to cancel that resolution. Accordingly, under Section 679A of the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1995, Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar issued the GO (Government Order).
